Riya is a registered psychologist with experience across a range of clinical settings, including private practice and hospital environments. Prior to her current role, she worked in occupational rehabilitation and in domestic violence and family support services within the ACT. She is presently completing a Master’s in Clinical Psychology (Advanced Entry) at the University of Southern Queensland.
Riya is committed to creating a collaborative and supportive therapeutic space where clients feel empowered to pursue meaningful personal growth. She takes an integrative, evidence-based approach to care, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities and tailoring each treatment plan to meet the unique goals and needs of her clients.
Her clinical expertise includes psychological formulation and treatment planning, with a special interest in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Riya has also undertaken additional training in Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and has completed Level 1 training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), enabling her to support individuals dealing with complex trauma, PTSD, chronic depression, and significant life transitions.
Riya is also trained in the Unified Protocol for transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders and has completed Level 2 training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP).
With a passion for supporting adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds, Riya helps clients build self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being through insight-oriented exploration, skills development, and experiential interventions.
